It was a challenge to turn this barren back garden into the National Award Winning garden it became. Customer’s wish list… wanting to hear water and would love to have a ‘secret garden’…
So beyond the natural stone patio the ‘bubble pathway’ entices you up to the ‘secret garden’ where the sound of a slate dripping wall creates a calming effect. Tear-drop Hornbeam trees create a contrast against the boundary and large bespoke natural stone pots add drama.
The customer’s ‘worst part of the garden’ became their ‘favourite bit’ and this is a perfect example of what can be achieved even in a very small space. This part of the garden loses its claustrophobic effect and gives the impression of a much larger space.
The secret garden looks down on the soft green Gazebo and beyond to the ‘show stopping’ Cornus Kousa tree enclosed in a stunning ‘cast iron tree grille’ used in the award winning Albert Dock Garden which featured on BBC’s Gardener’s World Programme.
This garden has appeared many times in the Marshalls Brochure and on the cover!
